Photographers - Stokłosa Jacek Maria

Born 7th February 1944 in Krakow. Member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers since 25th November 1996.

 

Studied industrial design and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Awarded a degree at the Institute of Graphics in 1972.

Worked as an artist since 1963, both as a graphic artist (awarded at the 6th International Graphics Biennale in Krakow) and creative photography. Attached to the Kszysztofory Gallery in Krakow and the Foksal Gallery in Warsaw. For twenty years an actor in Kantor’s Cricot 2 Theatre.

In 1967, together with the Janicki brothers, Lesław and Wacław, he forms the Second Group. They work in the area of conceptual and environment art, creating events important to the Polish avant garde. A selection of the Second Group’s realisations has been exhibited in 1999 at the Centre of Modern Art Zamek Ujazdowski in Warsaw (the exhibition of Conceptual Reflexion in Polish Art – experiences of the discurse 1965-1975).

President of the Krakow chapter of the Association of Polish Art Photographers for two terms. Between 2001 and 2013 he held the office of Krakow’s City Planner. Since 2010 he has been a lecturer at the Graphics Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (digital photography and imaging). For a long time he had been documented the work of Tadeusz Kantor while acting at Cricot 2 theatre.
